PROCUREMENT OFFICER / BUYER

A leading supplier and exporter of quality gourmet tea in South Africa is seeking to employ a well experienced Procurement officer/ Buyer.

Key functions:  

  • Source products internationally and locally in accordance with company requirements
  • Build good supplier relationships
  • Liaise with new and existing suppliers (cost effective/alternative products)
  • Negotiate and agree the most favorable terms possible with suppliers
  • Obtain quotations
  • Compile and maintain the database of approved suppliers in accordance with company requirements
  • Generate weekly and monthly replenishment reports
  • Review MRP (Material Requirement Planning) and place orders for products according to set targets
  • Plan inventory based on sales forecasts ensuring optimal stock levels
  • Process, capture and follow up on all orders
  • Optimize the supply of raw materials
  • Develop procurement plans appropriate to assigned products and services
  • Liaise with the accounts department regarding supplier account queries
  • Develop material cost forecasts or standard cost lists
  • Assist with stock take capturing
  • Implement new or improved supply chain processes
  • Adhoc duties as required

 

Qualifying Criteria:  

 

  • Qualification in procurement or similar
  • 2-3 year’s FMCG environment experience in a similar position advantageous
  • Knowledge and understanding of the FMCG environment advantageous
  • Must be computer literate in MS Office
  • Knowledge and experience in working with Pastel or Syspro will be advantageous
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English

 

General Information:

 

Salary: R20 000 – R25 000 CTC, depending on qualifications/skills/experience

Start Date: ASAP

Leave days: 15

Working Hours: Mo -Thurs.  08h00 – 16h30, Friday 08h00 – 14h30

Lunch break: 30 minutes
